And Not Too Far Away

Something For Everyone

Located in the picturesque harbour village of Carnlough, right at the foot at the second of the nine Glens of Antrim, Glencoy, you will find our renowned family heritage hotel.

The Londonderry Arms Hotel is nestled conveniently along the coastal journey between Belfast and the North Coast. Once owned by Winston Churchill, we’re the perfect base when exploring the Causeway Coastal Route and the Game of Thrones locations along the way.

With our 35 bedrooms, cosy lounges, restaurant and bistro bar as well as our Arkle Whiskey bar, The Londonderry Arms is fully equipped to meet the needs of world travellers, staycationers and day-trippers alike. In this truly unique and relaxed atmosphere, all of our guests will feel welcome and cared for. While there are plenty of sights to see in the immediate town of Carnlough, we are also closely located to lots of attractions that are a little further afield.

Glenarm Castle and Garden

Glenarm Castle and Garden is only a seven-minute drive from The Londonderry Arms Hotel, offering plenty to see and do for all the family. With its famous Walled Garden, which is also home to the annual Tulip Festival, visitors can enjoy an extensive collection of flora and fauna all year round.

The Woodland Walk is a scenic extension of the Walled Garden, a hotspot for red squirrels, robins, rabbits, and a whole host of other birds and wildlife.

There is a new Heritage Centre opening in 2022, telling the story of the McDonnell (or MacDonnell) family, the Earls of Antrim. As well as this, the grounds will be welcoming a brand-new Coach House Museum, with lots on display to give visitors a unique insight into local life from the 1600s to the present day. The exhibition is also set to showcase an impressive array of some of Lord Antrim’s vintage cars.

Glenariff Forest Park

Home to some of the most distinguished waterfalls in Northern Ireland, Glenariff Forest Park is a must-see attraction for outdoor lovers. Also known as ‘Queen of the Glens’, it is one of the nine Antrim Glens in Northern Ireland. Glenariff covers over 1,000 hectares, with planted woodland, lakes, outdoor recreation spaces and conservation areas.

The Forest Park is open to the public and caters for many outdoor activities including walking, horse riding and touring. It also has picnic and barbeque areas as well as a tea house for visitors to make use of during their adventure. Glenariff Forest Park is located only 20 minutes away from The Londonderry Arms Hotel. This forest walk is one of our guests favorites. Be sure to ask our team for the best paths to walk to ensure you have an incredible experience in the local fresh air.

The Gobbins
Cliff Path

The Gobbins Cliff Path is a totally unique experience. Expect cliff edges laced with 15 new bridges and six elevated paths where onlookers can admire the natural beauty of the coast and learn the interesting story of how The Gobbins has formed over the last 200 million years.

Since reopening in 2016, The Gobbins attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. Located only 40-minutes by car from The Londonderry Arms Hotel, the bridges, tunnels, caves and aquarium is well worth the journey.

Thankfully you do not have to be brave of heart to experience The Gobbins, just an adventurer. If you want to find out more about things to do near our Antrim coast hotel, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
